How is the Center unique from schools and tutoring centers?Unlike schools and commercial tutoring franchises, we address the root causes of learning disabilities and attention difficulties, not just the symptoms. We assess, train and develop 26 cognitive abilities and 3 perceptual areas essential to learning Success in the classroom and life. Learning difficulties become learning abilities! We provide a holistic approach to learning. There is more to your child than being a "learner of text book" material. We meet the needs of the whole child through multi-disciplined professional resources because there are many causes and solutions to your child's problems. Independent learners are created which is essential to life long learning and success as an adult. The "tutoring cycle" is broken; students become independent or less dependent on accommodations or special programs to learn. Once the core learning abilities are developed and strengthened, the gaps in reading, writing and math achievement are remediated more easily and quickly using our scientifically proven programs. *Our services are determined by a nationally normed, diagnostic, analytical and neuro- psycho-educational learning assessmentUnlike schools and "cookie cutter"tutoring franchises our assessments take approximately 6 hours long and evaluate the sensory integration, vision, auditory processing and 26 cognitive abilities. The WISC only assesses through 16 subtests! We find learning disabilities not identified by schools and private practitioners! How? We analyze your child's performance and how he/she actually processes information and functions! Just getting the answers right and the score they get is how schools work! They rely on a "Discrepancy Model" which is subjectively determined by each school district to decide whether your child has a learning disability or not! The "Discrepancy Model" is not scientifically proven to have any correlation to diagnosing learning disabilities! Why is it used then? It controls numbers of children being identified as having learning disabilities giving the school districts more control and flexibility! It is not only important to know that your child is intelligent! Even gifted children (who obviously are very intelligent) can have learning disabilities! What's most important is what kind of intelligence they display and how they process information! Unlike the schools, we identify and remediate the weak intellectual abilities that are interfering with their functioning in school and in life! Our nationally normed tests of learning abilities are the only ones on the market that directly correlate to a scientifically based program based on the identified weaknesses! Here's the problem, now here's the answer- not band aid or accommodation- answer! *Developmentally appropriateChildren are falling in the cracks in school because schools are "assuming" what their skills are and that they are ready to learn! We make no assumptions and leave no rock unturned! Unlike advanced school curriculum of today our approach to learning is based on your child's needs, pace of learning and is a systematic, and developmentally organized! *Based on current research on the brain and learningUnlike schools and tutoring centers we "hit the bull's eye" by addressing the root causes of learning and attention difficulties not just the symptoms. ADD is often proven by our comprehensive, diagnostic testing to be a symptom rather than the real problem! In these cases medication amounts to a band-aid approach based on a mis-diagnosis! Most often reading problems have nothing to do with reading programs and are not solved by them! After going through our reading therapy process which includes sensory integration of crossing the midline, vision training, visual and auditory perceptual training and Brain Mastery children start reading well without the use of Wilson or other well known reading programs! Some children misdiagnosed as "dyslexic" are proven not to be! Truly "dyslexic" children learn to manage this "learning style" by our state of the art Dyslexia training program called Brain Mastery! *Holistic approach to LearningYour child is so much more than a learner of "school book" material. There are many causes and many solutions to their attention and learning issues and we provide the resources necessary to address all of them! *Train to Mastery, No fail approachC's and D's are not good enough. Each student has their own individualized treatment plan based on the most successful, science based programs presented in a developmentally appropriate way based on the current science of learning! *Create Independent LearnersIndependent learning is not a behavior! It is a skill. Independent learners have all the intellectual, perceptual skills well developed so that they are not dependent on tutors and accommodations to learn! The only way for a struggling child to become an independent learner is by training the weak brain skills that are causing your child to struggle and be dependent on you special ed teachers and tutors! This training must include all the processes, sensory integration, vision, auditory processing and the 26 intellectual abilities which the schools fail to evaluate or train! *One on One ServicesEach child works with a highly trained, compassionate, fun and loving woman who becomes your child's teacher, friend and often confidante. She will challenge, support, keep your child on task making sure your child gets the full benefit from every session! *Individualized, Comprehensive Treatment PlanThe fundamental learning processes proven to be at the root of all learning and attention difficulties are spelled out, developed and strengthened.
